i am Doom, What gods dare stand against me?
full name Neal Seirbigh, PH.D nicknames tbd birthdate & age Octover 8, 1976 & 40 place of birth Dublin, Ireland residence boston, massachusetts
Born into a wealthy and politically savvy family in Dublin, Ireland, Neal Seirbigh never really wanted for much. Well, that was a lie. Wanting the approval of his mother and father, Neal always made sure he went above and beyond no matter what, trying to seek approval. Looking back on it, he would say that it was not his proudest moment or choice as a child, but youths do stupid things to gain approval. With his father being a scientist and his mother being a diplomat, they were very busy and hardly had time for Neal and his younger sister Siobhan so the two siblings caused trouble of their own. When they weren't studying and working towards gaining approval (something that always seemed to drive them, but it came so much easier to Siobhan than Neal), they were causing trouble in town, avoiding getting arrested while doing all the dumb things that kids do. It was on one of those moments out on the town as a teenager that Neal met a girl that was going to change his life. For the worse.

As Neal grew into his teen years and was working through his education, he had found he was far more suited for science and mathematics than the literary classics that his sister gravitated towards. Having hung out in town with the local kids enough, Neal had figured that he knew everyone, but that changed. One of the girls he had met randomly one night sat down next to him in science class, introducing herself as Victoria. She just moved to Ireland from America, her family moving to the country for work. So it appeared that Neal was given the chance to talk to someone who didn't know everything about Dublin, and that was something he latched onto immediately.

One would think that his attention to a female classmate would have caused his studies to fall, but they didn't. It had turned out that Victoria was intelligent and into science as well, and thus the two of them studied together...when they weren't “studying” of course. She had seemed to be a good influence on his life, and even his parents had started to notice. They say her influence has really helped him, and he's got good grades in school, and because of his improvements (and the fact that they had finally started to show their pride for him), they gifted Neal with a car once he had graduated. Finally happy to receive the approval of his parents (something he would never outwardly admit to, of course), he excitedly took the car to Victoria's place to show it off. With the two kids getting a full scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Victoria's father was a professor, it was just another step in how happy Neal was and how good his life was turning out to be. So, off he went to her house.

The two went out to celebrate, and upon doing so, went out for a few drinks. Knowing he was driving, he stayed sober and let Victoria have her fun, and made sure to safely drive them home. Which, did not turn out to be the case. The weather had been raining, the roads were slick, and Neal ended up getting the car into an accident, wrapping it around a tree. Both Neal and Victoria were brought to the hospital, but only Neal came out of the accident alive.

Despite it being ruled an accident and proven that Neal was sober at the time of the accident, his parents didn't care. This was a complete scandal for the Seirbigh family, with his father and mother deciding to disown their oldest and only son. It was a scandal that they could not afford, with his mother as a diplomat and his father as a world renowned scientist. They cut him off financially, they told his little sister to no longer speak to him, and said they would find a way to get him banned from Ireland if he were to ever return. A small mistake turned into the worst part of Neal's life, and he had no choice but to flee. He was allowed to keep his family name (a compromise be begged for, he identified with who he was as a person, as part of the family, and his parents were keen on stripping that away), but he was barred from coming back to Ireland, unless something drastically changed the minds of his parents (and the politicians that were bribed to make it so). So it was off to America Neal went.

Arriving in Boston, Massachusetts, Neal set himself up in a hotel with what little money he had before he could go and live on campus in Cambridge at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He passed the time by going to pubs that reminded him of home (surprisingly there were a lot of them in South Boston, and he soon grew rather fond of the area, as well as the Irish-Americans who lived there) and occasionally getting into a bar brawl or two. Nothing was done to compromise his scholarship though, the one thing his parents actually agreed not to take away from him, so in 1993 at age 17, Neal started his collegiate career.

He entered into the department of Physics as an undergrad, and started working towards his bachelor of Science, and found himself fitting right into the department. Quickly becoming one of the top students, Neal found himself in a competition with another student on who was smarter. This competition drove him, and as he finished up his Bachelors degree, he was invited to come back to MIT for his Masters, again on full scholarship; if he'd be willing to try a different field of scientific study. Ever the man up for a challenge, and being the quick learner that he was, Neal was completely up for the challenge. So in 1997, he continued on at MIT, and ended up going into Computer Science and Engineering, and he took on a minor of Nuclear Science, because he was always the type of person who wanted to prove he was better than everyone else.

Outside of college, there wasn't much that Neal did for a social life. He studied, he worked at a pub (the fact that he was working at all was new to him, but well he could build himself back up if he needed to), and didn't have much outside of that. Sure, there was a date here and there, and a few one night stands, but he mostly would have a few nights out with his friends, and focused on his studies. It was one of those nights out, drunk off his ass, that Neal got into an altercation. Fighting and drinking, well it was the Irish stereotype, but it didn't matter to him, his intelligence was insulted and he wasn't about to back down.

The cops were called on the fist fight and he was brought to the police station, placed under arrest. Neal, stuck in a holding cell, was waiting to hear what would happen (and wondered what it would mean for his scholarship) until he was approached by a well dressed man and a police officer, who let him out of the cell. He was told he was free to go, and the man asked Neal to come with him. Deciding not to question it, he followed the man and was lead out into a car with diplomatic plates.

He was lead to the Consulate General of Ireland offices on Boylston Street in Boston, and was brought in to meet the Consul General. She informed Neal that his parents were both recently killed two years before, and their will stated that he would be named a diplomate of Ireland, due to his family connection. Confused, Neal protested it, but the Consul General made it known that while Neal was only give Diplomatic status and was not named Vice Consul General as his mother was set to be (a fact that Neal was shocked to hear), he would now have diplomatic status. Meaning that he could not be detained or arrested under any means - though if the Consul General felt he was being irrational and unreasonable, she would allow the Boston and Cambridge police do as they needed to, and she would strip him of his status.

It was obvious that the Consul General was not pleased that he was handed diplomatic status out of political maneuvering by his parents (who had never remembered to change the will once they got Neal kicked out), but she was willing to stick to her word. Neal was granted the ability to enter Ireland once more, was given renewed passports, and then sent on his way.

Surprised at the new change of luck he had, Neal returned to Cambridge with a new sense of purpose. He felt renewed, but also felt good that his parents had passed on, though while he hated knowing they passed while still hating him, they at least were reasonable enough to keep him in their will. Soon his inheritance came in, he was given full status, and things were much, much better for him. So he did his best to stay out of bar fights (though they weren't always avoidable), meeting up with friends who knew better than to get them into trouble, and Neal felt almost drunk with power, as if he could do anything.

Which, was almost what killed him in the first place. And now, well it almost killed him a second time.

Going into his last year of his Masters in 2001, Neal had decided to participate in some lab trials that were not exactly safe. He had prepared a set of technology that would not only improve the trial, but make it 100% better than the projected outcome. Little did he know, a jealous rival -- the same one from before -- had decided to sabotage his technology and experiment. When Neal tried to use it, it exploded and caused a huge fire in the laboratory. Everyone evacuated and while Neal had a few scars from the third degree burns on his arms and back, but other than that was unscathed. Luckily, the incident had been caught on camera -- and so had the sabotaging of his experiment, and his rival was not only expelled from MIT, he was placed under arrest.

The incident shook Neal a bit, but not enough to stop him from trying to do what he wanted in the world. Once he finally graduated in May of 2001, Neal had decided to start his own tech company, and develop the technology that he wanted to make. Seirbigh Enterprises was founded, and Neal set up place in the Fort Point neighborhood in Boston, as it seemed to be a more up and coming neighborhood for technological advancements. Seirbigh Enterprises had decided to do things that most wouldn't do, and while that made the work they did controversial, Neal didn't care. He liked what his company was ding, and while many tried to buy out the tech they were creating, he would never sell.

After founding the company in 2001 and really making a growth in 2004, Neal made sure to keep up appearances with his diplomatic duties, making sure to attend a few events a year to make sure the Consul General was pleased with his actions, and to keep in good favor with the Embassy. While he is not well known to those 'common citizens' of America, he is rather well known with the tech gurus of the world, as well as those who are savvy as to who are diplomats and who are not. Neal does not try to hide his diplomatic status, but he also does not use it much as well -- the days of him getting into bar fights are long past him, and he was more than willing to move past that.
victor von doom
Victor was the child of Gypsy travelers in Latveria, a small European country. Victor's mother, Cynthia, was killed soon after she called upon the demon Mephisto for power. She left Victor with his father, asking him to protect him from Mephisto. Victor's father, Werner, was a doctor who was called upon by King Vladimir of Latveria to treat his wife. Unable to do so, Werner fled with Victor and died soon afterward trying to protect his son. Victor was left with his father's best friend Boris. Victor later discovered his mother's mystical books and artifacts. With them he was able to teach himself sorcery. He made several unsuccessful attempts to free his mother's soul from Mephisto.

Victor excelled in science, developed several inventions, and was eventually given a scholarship to Empire State University. While attending this school Victor met Reed Richards, who would later become his enemy, Mr. Fantastic. In school, they were considered scholarly rivals. One day, Victor designed an invention to rescue his mother which would become his greatest downfall. Richards attempted to warn Victor of an error in his calculations. However, Von Doom's arrogance refused to let him listen. The machine then exploded, scarring his face, and led to his expulsion from the university.

Von Doom later went to Tibet and found an old order of monks. He practiced their ways enough for him to become their leader. Von Doom then asked them to make his first suit of armor. Eager to wear the suit, Doom placed the still-hot steel faceplate to his face, making him even more scarred than before. As Dr. Doom, he then killed Baron Vladimir and imprisoned his son Rudolfo, and gained control over Latveria. Rudolfo would escape and lead a rebellion and become a thorn in Doom's side for years till his death. Later, Rudolfo's younger brother Zorba would take over where his brother left off. Doom using his intellect and inventions, turned Latveria into a thriving nation. (More information at ComicVine and Marvel Wikia)
